INTRODUCING THE BANABA AWARD
The object
of the Banaba Award is to encourage stations Worldwide to make as many
contacts as possible with the T33C Expedition between 4 and 16 April 2004.
We would like to encourage all amateurs no matter how simple their station
to make contact with us. We shall be operating on all bands from 160m
through to 6m on all the main modes, CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK, and SSTV.
It has been decided that “The
Banaba Trophy” will be awarded to the station who
makes the highest number of band / mode contacts with us during our stay.
To try to level the playing field it has been decided that only the following
band / modes will apply. Contacts outwith these slots will not count for
the Trophy.
CW: 160m – 6m (10 bands)
SSB: 160m – 6m excluding 30m (9 bands)
RTTY: 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m (4 bands)
PSK: 20m, 15m and 10m (3 bands)
The winner of the Banaba Trophy is:

with a total of 26 QSOs and 23 band / mode slots.
THERE ARE 26 BAND SLOTS AVAILABLE IN TOTAL FOR THE TROPHY.
Should two or more stations have the same number of band slots, then the Trophy will be awarded to the station who made that total first. A Certificate of Excellence will be awarded to the other stations who share the highest total. The Trophy and Certificates of Excellence will be awarded FREE!
- “BANABA CERTIFICATES OF MERIT”
In parallel, we intend to operate an Awards Scheme, where a very colourful Certificate can be obtained. The rules are very simple – again try to make contact with us on as many of the above band slots as possible:
- THE
BANABA BRONZE AWARD
Is available to stations who make contact with us on a minimum of 5 band / slots - THE
BANABA SILVER AWARD
Is available to stations who make contact with us on a minimum of 10 band / slots - THE
BANABA GOLD AWARD
Is available to stations who make contact with us on a minimum of 15 band / slots
It is intended
that any one person can only qualify for one Certificate, i.e. if you
make it on 12 band / slots, you would qualify for the Silver Award only
and not both Bronze and Silver.
Certificates will cost $5 each plus $2 post and package. Proceeds of the
Certificates will go into the Expedition Fund.
Don't send any cheques, only cash.

and include
the fee and post and package. Applications should also include a QSO list
for the specific Award applied for. Should any QSOs be found to be "not
in the log”, these QSOs will NOT count for either a Certificate
or indeed the Trophy. We will not enter into any correspondence regarding
the Certificates and the decision of the Expedition members shall be final.
